Everybody talks about democracy as an abstraction, but here you describe the nitty-gritty, the boring work at the heart of the democratic process: long meetings, tired participants who can’t keep track of the agenda, nitpicking over sub-clauses, complicated voting procedures… but also the beauty of speaking your mind, hearing other views, thinking about the issues in depth, being convinced or convincing. I actually think this is a very important post. Yay for democracy!
